Terms & conditions

Terrazza is operated by Belsize Restaurant LTD (company number 16862706), 240 Haverstock Hill, London NW3 2AE.

* Private hire & party deposits

Deposits for private hire, VIP and function rooms (groups of 20 or more) and party bookings, including Christmas parties, are non-refundable.

When you book an event with us, we reserve the space for you and turn away other private events for that date. For this reason we cannot refund your deposit if the booking is cancelled or your numbers go down.

  • Groups of 20+ in VIP and function rooms: £10 per person deposit.
  • Christmas parties: 30% deposit to secure your date.

Change of floor or space

If the floor or space booked for your event becomes unavailable or unsafe to use — for example because of a hazard, a structural or maintenance issue, a fault with utilities, or a requirement from the emergency services or local authority — we may move your party to another floor or area of the restaurant of a similar standard and capacity.

Moving your party in these circumstances does not count as a cancellation by us. Your event will go ahead as booked, with the same menu and drinks package, and your deposit and any pre-payments remain non-refundable. We will tell you as soon as we reasonably can if your party needs to be moved.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Private events terms

These terms apply in addition to the deposit and change-of-space terms above. By paying a deposit for a private, party or group booking, the organiser accepts these terms.

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Private Events Terms apply to all private, semi-private, corporate, party and group bookings at Terrazza, operated by Belsize Restaurant LTD (“Terrazza”, “we”, “us”).

The person who makes the booking and/or pays the deposit is the organiser. By paying a deposit, or otherwise confirming a booking, the organiser confirms they have read and accept these terms on their own behalf and on behalf of every guest, supplier and entertainer attending their event.

The organiser is responsible for making sure their guests are aware of the rules in these terms. Where a booking confirmation contains specific terms that differ from these general terms, the specific written terms apply to that event.

2. Booking confirmation & deposits

A booking is only confirmed once the deposit has been received and Terrazza has confirmed the booking in writing. Until then, dates and spaces remain subject to availability.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the standard deposit is £10 per guest. The deposit is credited towards the final bill on the day and is not an extra venue charge.

Deposits are non-refundable (see Private hire & party deposits).

3. Minimum spend

Where a minimum spend applies, the amount will be confirmed in writing before the booking is secured. It is the minimum the organiser agrees to spend on food and drink during the agreed event period.

A reduction in guest numbers does not reduce the agreed minimum spend. If spending is below the minimum, the organiser will be charged the difference at the end of the event. Spending above the minimum is payable in addition. The service charge does not count towards the minimum spend unless confirmed otherwise in writing.

4. Event space, timings & late arrival

Private hire means the agreed space is reserved exclusively for the organiser’s group during the confirmed times. Semi-private bookings provide an allocated area; other customers may be present on the same floor or nearby. The space, layout and level of exclusivity will be stated in the booking confirmation.

The booking applies only to the start and finish times confirmed in writing. Any extension must be agreed in advance and may carry an extra charge or a higher minimum spend. Staying after the finish time does not extend exclusive use of the space.

Late arrival does not extend the finish time. If the organiser or the main group arrives more than 30 minutes after the agreed start time without telling us, we may treat the booking as a no-show, release the space and keep the deposit.

5. Guest numbers, food & menus

Final guest numbers and any pre-order menu choices must be confirmed no later than 7 days before the event. Extra guests are subject to capacity and availability and must be approved in advance; we may refuse entry once the permitted capacity is reached.

All food must be supplied by Terrazza. Outside food and drinks (including alcohol, soft drinks, snacks and external catering) are not permitted unless agreed in writing.

Guests may bring a celebration cake for display and photographs. For food safety and insurance reasons, externally prepared cakes may not be eaten in the restaurant unless agreed in writing. Please bring a box to take it home.

We will make reasonable efforts to cater for dietary requirements and allergies notified in advance. Guests must tell us about any allergy before ordering.

6. Drinks, bar tabs & service charge

Hosted bar tabs must be agreed with us. Once an agreed bar limit is reached, guests pay for their own drinks unless the organiser authorises an increase. The organiser is responsible for monitoring any hosted bar budget and for paying the full tab.

We may refuse to serve alcohol to anyone in line with our premises licence and responsible-service duties, and may ask any guest for valid photo ID (Challenge 25). We may stop alcohol service to a guest or the whole group at any time.

A discretionary 12.5% service charge is added to food and drink unless agreed otherwise in writing.

7. Music, noise & entertainment

All music and entertainment must comply with our premises licence, planning conditions and noise restrictions. External amplified speakers are not permitted. DJs, musicians and entertainers must be approved by us in advance and must use our sound system where required.

We control the volume at all times and may turn down or stop music or entertainment that breaches licensing, planning, noise or safety requirements, or that causes complaints from neighbours. Music must finish at the time we set for the space. No refund or reduction is given if music or entertainment is reduced or stopped for these reasons.

Guests must leave quietly and respect our neighbours on arrival, when smoking outside and on departure.

8. Decorations & external suppliers

Freestanding decorations, flowers, balloons, welcome boards and backdrops are allowed with prior approval. Nothing may be screwed, nailed, glued, taped or otherwise fixed to walls, ceilings, furniture or other surfaces without written permission.

Confetti, glitter, smoke or haze machines, sparklers, candles, open flames and similar items are not permitted without prior written approval. Extra cleaning caused by them will be charged.

Any external supplier (entertainer, photographer, decorator or similar) must be approved in advance and is responsible for their own equipment, insurance and safety compliance. We may refuse any equipment or activity we consider unsafe or unsuitable. The organiser must remove all decorations and belongings at the end of the event.

9. Guest conduct

The organiser is responsible for the behaviour of everyone in their party, including guests, suppliers and entertainers.

Illegal drugs, weapons and dangerous items are strictly prohibited. We may refuse entry to, or remove, anyone who is intoxicated, aggressive, abusive, dangerous, acting illegally, or seriously disrupting staff, other customers or neighbours. Children and under-18s must be supervised by the organiser or a responsible adult at all times.

Where the behaviour of the organiser’s party puts our staff, guests, premises or licence at risk, we may end the event early. In that case no refund is given, and the deposit and all charges incurred up to that point remain payable.

10. Damage, fines & the organiser’s responsibility

The organiser is responsible for, and agrees to pay us on demand for, any loss, cost or damage that is caused by the organiser, their guests, suppliers or entertainers, including:

  • damage to the venue, furniture, fixtures, equipment, glassware or decorations, and the cost of repair, replacement or extra cleaning;
  • any fine, penalty, licence-review cost, enforcement cost or reasonable legal cost we incur because of their conduct — for example action taken by the local authority, licensing authority, police or environmental health following noise, nuisance, disorder, underage drinking or other breaches caused by the party;
  • loss of trade or business we suffer as a direct result of their conduct, such as a forced early closure or suspension of our licence;
  • reasonable costs of recovering any unpaid amount.

We will provide reasonable evidence of these costs. To cover them we may deduct any amount from the deposit or other money we hold, and charge the organiser for any balance. Where a booking is high-risk or a large event, we may ask for a card pre-authorisation or a refundable security deposit in advance.

11. Cancellations & date changes by the organiser

All cancellations must be made in writing. Deposits are non-refundable. If an event is cancelled after we have committed costs for food, staff, entertainment, equipment or other event-specific items, we may also recover those costs.

Date changes are subject to availability and must be agreed in writing. We are not obliged to transfer a deposit to another date; where we do, revised pricing or minimum-spend terms may apply.

Any change to numbers, timings, menus, entertainment or layout must be agreed with us and may change the price, minimum spend or space. Verbal changes are not binding unless we confirm them in writing.

12. Changes or cancellation by Terrazza

If something outside our reasonable control (for example severe weather, utility failure, fire, flood, illness, government or licensing restrictions, or the change of space described in Change of floor or space) affects the event, we will contact the organiser as soon as reasonably possible. Where we can, we will move the event to another space or offer another date; if the event cannot go ahead at all, we will offer another date or refund amounts paid for services we cannot provide.

We are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses (for example travel, accommodation, third-party supplier costs or loss of enjoyment) arising from circumstances outside our reasonable control.

13. Payment & belongings

Any balance must be paid as stated in the booking confirmation; otherwise the full bill is payable at the end of the event. Pre-ordered packages, food or drinks may need to be paid in advance.

Guests are responsible for their own belongings. We accept responsibility for loss or damage only where the law requires it.

14. Your legal rights

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.

Refunds (takeaway & delivery orders)

If there is a problem with your order, please contact us within one hour of delivery. A full refund may be given where you provide a valid explanation and less than 1% of the food has been eaten. Refund requests made more than one hour after delivery cannot be accepted.

Instead of a refund, we may offer a full or partial refund, or credit towards a future order. Refunds can take up to 48 hours to be processed by your bank.

Cancellations

An order can be cancelled for a full refund only before its preparation has started.

Pricing and availability

Occasionally, prices or descriptions may contain errors. If we cannot confirm an order once an error has been corrected, we may cancel it and give a full refund.

Delivery and collection times

Delivery and collection times are estimates. We cannot guarantee that orders will be delivered or ready within the estimated time.

Governing law

These terms are governed by English law, and legal proceedings may be brought in the English courts. If you live in another part of the United Kingdom or in another EU member state, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your home country.
